Most people think of parties, drinking, and celebrations when it comes to New Years. Not for rock goddess Pink, who rang in 2026 from a hospital bed after checking in for neck surgery.

In a message to her fans on Instagram (below), the celebrity said that she was getting “two new shiny discs” as the new year began.

TMZ reported that she posted a smiling selfie in a hospital gown on Dec. 31, making it clear this wasn’t cosmetic and joking about a “fancy facelift” while she dealt with a very real procedure.

In the IG post, one close-up photo showed the bandage. In the post she seemed upbeat, funny, and very direct about what was happening to her body.

Jokes and reflection

People Magazine also reported on the facelift comment, then pointed right back to the “two new shiny discs” she was there to get.

Two things stand out, uncertainty over how this injury happened, and the second, the star was alone. Her family, including husband Carey Hart and their two kids, Willow and Jameson were out on the slopes, snowboarding.

E! Online added in their report that Pink didn’t spell out exactly how the injury happened, but she did leave a clue, “Rock ’n’ roll is a contact sport.” She also wrote about leaving pain behind in 2025 and choosing a better 2026. So, perhaps this operation was planned.

Entertainment Weekly highlighted that the rocker is known for high-intensity shows and aerial performance elements, and she’s talked before about bringing that athletic side into her concerts. If you’ve ever watched her perform, a neck that needs attention makes unfortunate sense.

JustJared added to the story that she framed the moment as a reset, with gratitude mixed into a year she described as everything from devastating to mildly annoying.

What does neck disc surgery usually mean?

Looking at the medical side of this story, cervical disc replacement is a procedure where a damaged disc in the neck is replaced with an artificial one. It’s most commonly done to help with pain and keep motion.

Verywell Health says that the goal is typically pain relief and improved function, and recovery is commonly measured in weeks, not days.

Data from Spine-health shows that, in the first week or two, people are usually told to take it easy on heavy lifting and vigorous activity, and driving can be limited until pain and medications are under control.

A few practical things many families plan for, since it’s the part nobody wants to think about:

  • Easy-to-reach water, meds, and chargers
  • Simple meals that don’t require lifting big pots
  • A pillow setup that keeps the neck supported

Let’s hope Pink’s family have the above sorted.

Well Wishes

People Magazine dug into the IG comments, reporting on the numerous supportive messages in her comments. Including notes from Juliette Lewis and Kristin Chenoweth.

Positive messages and support matter when you’re recovering and stuck in one place.

For now, the clearest update is the one she gave herself, covering her surgery, a new scar, and a mindset shift aimed at moving forward. TMZ reported she sounded ready to leave the “dizzy” parts of 2025 behind and focus on getting better.
