Skip the Milk, Stick with the Honey

German scientists found that adding milk to your black tea reduces the health benefits. I’m a lemon & honey guy myself, so personally I’m not concerned, but I know more than a few people that go the light & sweet route. I know it’s not an easy switch, just like anything else, but it must be considered.

I think the reduction in the ability to dilate blood vessels and the decrease in antioxidant effects may be enough to effect a change.

I mentioned honey & lemon earlier, and I’ll admit I’m surprised that there was not a group in the trial that drank the tea with that combination. Lemons are known as a citrus fruit with high levels of Vitamin C. And honey may be the original superfood, with its known antibacterial effects and its concentration of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

I’m not waiting for the next study the lemon& honey stays in my tea, be it black, green, red, or white.
