There’s more than one way to avoid Alzheimer’s. If you’ve been reading these posts, then surely you’re aware of the benefits of fish oil and a glass of cabernet sauvignon. So certainly it would come as no surprise that a Mediterranean diet would be effective against the nastiness that we know as Alzheimer’s. So in addition to fish, be sure to add plenty of fruit, vegetables, legumes, nuts, and olive oil. While you’re at it, trim out a bit of the meat. Natural fats versus animal fats seems to be a key element of the health benefits derived from the diet.
Now I’m not sure where the cannibus leaf fits in with the traditional Mediterranean diet, but apparently your hemp cereal won’t help prevent Alzheimer’s, because it lacks THC (delta-9- tetrahydrocannabinol), the active ingredient in marijuana. The Scripps Research Institute states that the THC preserves brains levels of acetylcholine and prevents the formation of amyloid tissue, which are both key to Alzheimer’s prevention.
I would suggest if you chose THC as your pathway to prevention, keep your cabinets stocked with fruits and nuts and other items in the Mediterranean diet. Leave the Ben & Jerry’s on the convenience store shelves, and keep the healthy foods a bit less inconvenient.
